Now, let’s check out the new developments in downtown San Diego.
First up is the Research & Development District, or RAD, the largest urban commercial waterfront site on California’s Pacific Coast. This 8-acre project is a mixed-use life science campus with mid-rise buildings, a 17-story tower, ground-floor retail, and restaurants designed by Glener. It’s not just a hub for innovation but also a community space with rooftop decks and green areas for everyone to enjoy. With completion set for late 2024, RAD will reshape downtown’s waterfront. The location is at Long Harbor Drive and Broadway, with key features including the 17-story tower, rooftop spaces, life science hub, retail, and dining.
Next, Seaport San Diego is an absolute game-changer. This $1.6 billion project will transform 70 acres of waterfront property into a must-visit destination. The development will feature six hotels, retail spaces, a movie theater, a food and beer hall, and even a charter high school focused on marine biology. Attractions include the Odyssey Sea Aquarium, a 480-foot observation tower, and a floating Olympic-size swimming pool. The Seaport Village area is between Harbor Drive and Pacific Highway, with completion expected between 2027 and 2028. Key features include hotels, retail, the observation tower, an aquarium, and public open spaces.
Diega by Bosa is already adding a stunning new look to the downtown skyline with 41-story twin towers. The development offers luxurious apartments ranging from studios to penthouses, panoramic views, concierge services by Alfred, and a central location just steps from the best downtown has to offer. Diega combines high-end living with unmatched convenience. The location is 702 Broadway in San Diego, with key features including a rooftop pool, fitness center, modern amenities, and luxurious floor plans. In-person and virtual appointments are now available.
The West Tower by Holland Partner Group is a brand-new mixed-use marble development in downtown San Diego. This 37-story tower features 431 residential units, 289,000 square feet of office space, and 10,000 square feet of retail. It’s also the new home for Sandak. The West Tower is just the first part of a larger three-block development, which includes downtown’s first Whole Foods. Amenities include a rooftop pool with bay views, retail spaces, and art installations featuring local artists. Its location is 1011 Union Street, San Diego. Completion for the tower is expected mid-2024, and Whole Foods by 2026.
