Tierrasanta is home to about 32,000 people, a mix of families, young professionals, and retirees. It’s a vibrant, welcoming community with something for everyone. 

The weather here is picture-perfect, with average temperatures in the mid-70s and sunny skies most of the year. You’ll always have a reason to be outside—pro tip: invest in sunscreen. With the perfect mix of community, convenience, and outdoor beauty, it’s like living in a postcard but with better Wi-Fi. 

Did you know Tierrasanta used to be part of a military base? Back in the 1960s, this area was part of Camp Elliott. Fast forward to the 1970s, it was transformed into one of San Diego’s first master-planned communities. Fun fact: Tierrasanta means “holy land” in Spanish—fitting, right? This neighborhood is basically heaven for families and outdoor lovers alike. 

Mission Trails Regional Park is basically Tierrasanta’s backyard. Hike up Cowles Mountain for epic views or enjoy a quiet day by Kumeyaay Lake. Adventure is just around the corner here.

Tierrasanta is in the heart of San Diego County, about 12 miles north of downtown. It’s bordered by Interstate 15 to the west and State Route 52 to the north. This means quick access to the city’s best spots—from beaches to downtown life—without sacrificing a peaceful suburban vibe. 

Life in Tierrasanta is like a permanent vacation. Miles of trails at Mission Trails Regional Park, community pools, and parks make it perfect for an active lifestyle. There’s a strong sense of community here—neighborhood barbecues, friendly waves, and kids playing outside.
