Today, the community is known for its strong sense of neighborliness, offering a close-knit atmosphere while remaining conveniently located just a short drive from downtown San Diego. The natural spring in the area has been a crucial water source for centuries, and the community began to grow significantly in the mid-20th century, maintaining a perfect balance between suburban tranquility and urban convenience. 

Spring Valley offers many fun activities. Spring Valley has several well-regarded schools as part of the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District. Spring Valley Academy is rated 6/10 with a student-teacher ratio of 22:1 and about 800 students. Highlands Elementary is rated 7/10 with a 20:1 ratio and approximately 500 students. Monista High School, also rated 7/10, has a 22:1 ratio with about 1,200 students.

Spring Valley is experiencing growth and development, including new housing projects, improved infrastructure, and enhanced community amenities. Its affordable housing options make it ideal for first-time buyers or those looking to upgrade.
